I must have tried many different kinds of toy organizers since I had children. But the one I like the most are toy storage units with bins. The bins make it easy to organize toys into different categories, it makes it easy for children to find and put away their toys, plus you can even add labels on them for a little bit of reading practice.
There are many different kinds of toy storage units of this kind, some with as many as 9 bins, some made of plastic, others made of hard wood. Whatever it is you want to fit in your child's bedroom, I'm sure you'll find one that best fits what you like. Here are some of the nice ones I've seen.

For many kids, it's always nice to have a furniture in the bedroom that has pictures of their favorite characters. This usually gets them a lot more excited. I also find that this way, it's easier to get them to know the value of storing things and "cleaning up their mess".
